Loulou de la Falaise/Pierre Bergé Wallpaper: C’est Chic!

Loulou de la Falaise may have left this earth in November 2011, but in 2014, her work is having a Renaissance that’s as poetique, chic and fantastique as her thousands of fine jewelry designs, clothing and various haute luxe accessories.

Interest in Loulou’s poetic and influential jewelry, accessories and clothing has been reignited by the newly published book, Loulou de la Falaise:  The Glamorous Romantic. (Loulou designed over 10,000 pieces of haute luxe jewelry for Yves Saint Laurent and his rive gauche boutiques, along with collections for department stores around the world. What’s more, some of her most lyrical jewels, accessories and clothing were designed for her eponymous boutiques in Paris between 2003 and 2006.)

Edited by Loulou’s former business partner and friend Ariel de Ravenel, and written by fashion journalist Natasha Fraser-Cavassoni, the book is packed with over 400 professional and candid photographs of Loulou and her jewelry designs, Loulou and her longtime employers, Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé, and Loulou and her extraordinary family, including Thadeé Klossowski de Rola. Read our review of the book, Loulou de La Falaise: The Glamorous Romantic.

Another manifestation of Loulou fever comes via this ironic, witty and iconic wallpaper from Philippe Morillon that’s offered by Pierre Passebon Galerie du Passage for $340 per roll at www.1stdibs.com

This mash-up of late 1970s/80s version of Manet’s famous Le Dejeuner sur l’Herbe (Picnic on the Grass) shows the picnic blanket laid out, the boom box blaring…could it be The Rolling Stones, Serge Gainsbourg or disco?

While Loulou de la Falaise takes a contemplative ciggie break on a gilded house of Saint Laurent chair, Pierre Bergé, co-founder of the house of Saint Laurent, and Loulou’s great friend, sits on the grass hearing secret harmonies. Ozu the cat (named after the Japanese filmmaker?) plays with a ball. The naked woman pouring water is inspired by the 1509 painting ‘Le concert champetre’ by Giorgione or Titian, considered by some art historians to be a precursor of Manet’s Le Dejeuner surel’herbe.

How chic would it be to live surrounded by images of lovely Loulou, pensive Pierre and the spirit of haute luxe style? Dig it:  Sold on request by roll units. Delivery time: two weeks. Negotiable price for 10 rolls or more.
